VALE — With the Malheur County Court having signed the agreement to receive state funds, the Advisory Committee for the Wolf Depredation Compensation and Financial Assistance Program has moved ahead with its organization and rule adoption for how it will manage the program.At its meeting Wednesday, members of the committee elected Dan Cummings as chair and Toby McBride as vice-chair. Other members of the committee include Mark MacKenzie, Shad Harrison, Dave Wenger, Larry Hinton and County Commissioner Don Hodge.
The county has received $3,000 to be available for compensation, but, with no known incidents wolf killing of livestock, the focus will be to provide financial assistance for preventative measures. These may include such things as putting up additional fencing and additional checks on livestock — range monitors.
