AUGUSTA, Maine (NEWS CENTER) — A bill now before the Maine Legislature sets up strict new requirements for anyone running a wolf hybrid kennel or sanctuary.

Questions about the safety of wolf hybrids arose last Summer when Jim Doughty announced plans to open a wolf hybrid refuge on his property in the coastal town of Bristol. Townspeople voted overwhelmingly against the plan, but there was nothing in place on the local or state level to stop him…
