Kawoni, the wolf who escaped her enclosure twice at Bays Mountain Park, has died from unknown causes.

Just months after six wolves escaped their enclosure after a fallen branch knocked down fencing, Bays Mountain Park closes their doors again as they seek to recapture a wolf who escaped over the weekend.

It has taken eight weeks, but Bays Mountain Park workers have finally managed to drug and recapture Kawoni, the female who escaped the facility after a storm knocked down fencing.

Two wolves are still missing from Bays Mountain park, more than six weeks after fencing was taken down by a tree felled by a storm.

According to an article written by Matthew Lane, on Timesnews.net, both wolves, Kawoni and Adahy, are unwilling to give up their freedom, prompting park officials to try new strategies to catch them.

Bill Jones, staff writer for the Greeneville Sun reports that a Greene County couple caught a glimpse, and snapped a shot, of one of the missing wolves from the Bays Mountain Park facility.

According to the Bays Mountain Park website, the facility remains closed as they work to recover two wolves who escaped after a fallen tree damaged their enclosure.
