Missoula, Mont. (Greenwire) – Three environmental groups yesterday asked a federal appeals court in San Francisco to overturn a decision to remove federal protections from gray wolves in Montana and Idaho.

More bad news for wolves. Judge Donald Molloy would have ruled the delisting of wolves as unconstitutional if there wasn’t already precedent tying his hands. As it is, the law stands, but wildlife groups will almost certainly appeal the decision.

CHEYENNE — After years of fighting, the state of Wyoming and the federal government have reached an agreement to remove the state’s roughly 340 wolves from the endangered species list and put them under state control.

The Department of the Interior has released a press release outlining the details of the agreement which would give Wyoming management of the state’s wolves.
