Montana’s wolf population growth slowing down

Montana’s wolf population, now at around 525 animals, might be peaking, according to the state’s wolf program coordinator.

The state had an estimated 524 wolves at the close of 2009, a 4 percent increase over 2008.

There were two wolves in Montana in 1979, according to the state Fish, Wildlife & Parks.
