According to a post on Ralph Maughan’s blog, a judge will allow Idaho Fish and Game to use helicopters to conduct research in the Frank Church Wilderness.

The report suggests that preliminary 2009 totals for wolves will be similar to the numbers of 2008, it also offers an update on the wolf hunt and planned research.

The city of Lafayette currently has a 10-year-old weiner dog named Spork targeted for either death or kenneling after he bit a veterinarian technician.

Resolution 43 which asks the governor of Idaho to declare a state of emergency for Idaho and use any legal means necessary to reduce the number of wolves to the minimum required to recover the species – which could be as low as 100 wolves.

A rare Mexican gray wolf, who was intentionally released from her enclosure at the Wildlife Science Center in Minnesota, was captured and safely returned home Thursday after being on the run for three days.

Jess Edberg, from the International Wolf Center, wrote an article about Mexico’s plans to reintroduce five wolves following a devastating year where America’s population declined by 20 percent.

In the midst of all the bad news for wolves comes a reason for hope.
