Kawoni and Adahy were among six wolves which escaped the Bays Mountain Park facility after a storm knocked a tree on to the fencing of the wolf enclosure.

Kawoni is a female wolf who has been well tracked and followed over the last 8 weeks. It was the consistency of her behavior which allowed the park officials to lace food with tranquilizer – a capture attempt which failed.

The continued consistency of her routine finally allowed park officials to shoot her with a tranquilizer dart, according to a report which appeared on timesnews.net.

The report also says that Kawoni was limping, and as of right now, it is unknown the severity of the injury.

There are some who believe that Adahy may be dead as there has been no confirmed sightings of him. However, many park workers and volunteers hold out hope that the lack of confirmed contacts simply mean he has been more elusive.

The timesnews.net website also reports that Bays Mountain Park is planning to re-open in the near future now that Kawoni has finally been recaptured.
